Babcock DMV Worthy of Praise

The DMV is laregly seen as a bureacratic mess.  An office where you must drudge through 3 hours of idle time just to get a license or other official Texas clerical work.  What I found was this DMV was a highly efficient and smooth process and the employees were actually somewhat friendly despite their long days.  I went to get my license replaced Tuesday, the day after Labor Day, at 1:00pm – possibly the busiest time of the day – and after receiving my ticket stub was 40th in line.  From the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out, I spent about 45 minutes in that office.  Their quick employees and well structured system was no accident.  The seating arrangements were staggered nicely and overall it was an easy, pleasant experience.

Was it fun?  Of course not.  Going to Fiesta Texas is fun.  Going to the DMV is just something you have to do every now and then.  Were there a lot of people?  Yes.  The place was full.  My recommendation, just bring a book.  I sat by where the line was forming and overheard a few groups of people having the stereotypical gab about what a mess this was.  My take – lifelong complainers.  Some people are just never happy.  Either that or they were just looking for a reason to talk.  However, the truth was in the process.  Make no mistake about it, the DMV at Babcock is worthy of praise.
